Shimla, April 2 -- The Himachal Pradesh Assembly on the concluding day of its session on Thursday passed the State Farmer's Commission Bill, 2026, paving the way for the constitution of a dedicated body aimed at strengthening the agriculture sector and enhancing farmers' welfare.

Agricutlure Minister Chander Kumar introduced the bill in the Assembly and it was passed by voice vote.

The Minister stated that legislation seeks to address persistent challenges such as declining profitability, fragmented landholdings, climate variability, and limited institutional support.
