Shimla, May 30 -- Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced the release of Rs 100 crore to clear pending payments under the Himcare health insurance scheme and directed officials to ensure zero waiting time for major diagnostic tests and surgeries in government medical institutions.

Chairing a meeting of senior Health Department officials here on Saturday, Sukhu said the state government was committed to strengthening healthcare services and making specialised treatment facilities available closer to people's doorsteps.

He said several reforms had been undertaken in the health sector during the last three-and-a-half years to improve patient care and medical infrastructure.
