Kolkata, May 21 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday said that civic polls in Howrah Municipal Corporation and Bally Municipality will be conducted by the end of the year.
Speaking after a high-level coordination meeting on carrying out development in Howrah district, Adhikari said civic services under the Howrah Municipal Corporation and Bally Municipality had deteriorated significantly due to the absence of municipal polls for more than a decade.
He alleged that the previous Trinamool Congress government had failed to address the growing infrastructural and governance challenges in the area and had purposefully stalled the elections of the Howrah and Bally civic bodies.
