Sanaa/Jizan, July 25 -- The Iran-backed Houthi rebels claimed on Saturday to have launched a missile strike in the Saudi city of Jizan in retaliation for an overnight strike against the group by Riyadh.
The Houthis' Ansarollah media channel said on Telegram that a "Yemeni missile strike" had sparked fires in the city. The kingdom's authorities issued province-wide emergency alerts though did not immediately comment on the reported attack or any damage.
The missile strike followed Saudi air raids on Friday targeting Houthi-linked sites in the Yemeni port city of Hodeida and on the nearby Kamaran Island.
