Agartala, Aug. 30 -- A hostel warden in North Tripura has been sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 10,000 by a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court for sexually assaulting a minor girl at a residential school hostel in Kanchanpur.
The convict has been identified as Uday Kumar Reang. A Special Judge in Dharmanagar, Sudipta Chowdhury, delivered the verdict, stating that if he fails to pay the fine, he will serve an additional six months of imprisonment.
Court sources revealed that the girl was a student residing at the hostel. The prosecution claimed that before the case was registered, Reang repeatedly took her to various rooms, including the hostel kitchen, where he assaulted her.
