Shillong, April 16 -- Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Thursday hoped that Meghalaya's representation in Parliament would increase after delimitation of parliamentary constituencies.

"This was a long-pending demand (Women's Reservation Bill) that should have been addressed a long time ago. We must credit Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this bold decision," he said, adding that the bill addresses a clear gap in representation.

Sangma said the state government and his party, the National People's Party, completely support the landmark reform that will empower women to take decisions at the top level.
