Shillong, June 2 -- union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair the plenary meeting of the North Eastern Council (NEC), a regional planning body of eight northeastern states, here in Meghalaya on Thursday, an official said on Tuesday.
Governors and Chief Ministers of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura, who are also members of the NEC, will attend the plenary meet to be held at the State Convention Centre.
The members will deliberate on key initiatives for the growth, connectivity, and sustainable development of the North Eastern Region.
Shah is the ex officio chairperson of the council, while Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) minister Jyotiraditya Scindia is its vice-chairman.
