Shillong, Aug. 14 -- Meghalaya detected 558 HIV-positive cases among the general population between April and June this year, while 60 pregnant women tested positive for HIV during the same period, an official said on Friday.
The figures were released by the Meghalaya AIDS Control Society (MACS) following the statewide launch of the Intensified IEC Campaign 3.0 on August 12 at Lady Keane College, Shillong.
According to the HIV Estimation Report 2025, Meghalaya has 9,244 people living with HIV (PLHIV).
The intensified campaign aims to strengthen awareness and outreach on HIV and AIDS across the state, with MACS planning a wide range of community-based activities.
