Shimla, July 14 -- The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the 422 MW Kishau multipurpose hydroelectric project is expected to be signed shortly in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the Himachal Pradesh government asserting that it has safeguarded the state's long-term interests while paving the way for implementation of the long-pending project.
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu stated this on Tuesday, while chairing a high-level meeting to review the draft MoU circulated by the Centre among the partner states and issued necessary directions to the officers concerned.
The Government of India has sought comments and suggestions from the participating states before the formal signing of the agreement.
