Shimla, July 2 -- Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday directed the Power Department to initiate the process for taking over three hydroelectric projects earlier allotted to SJVNL, asserting that the state was committed to securing greater benefits from its hydropower resources.

Chairing a high-level meeting of the Power Department here, the Chief Minister instructed officials to begin the process for taking over the 382 MW Sunni, 210 MW Luhri Stage-I and 66 MW Dhaulasidh hydroelectric projects.

Sukhu said hydropower was the backbone of Himachal Pradesh's economy and the state government was determined to ensure that the benefits of the state's rich natural resources accrued to its people. He said the ...
