Shimla, Sept. 10 -- In Himachal Pradesh's Shimla district, a group of rural women has taken a significant step towards economic independence with the launch of 'HIMJAL', the state's first women-operated mineral water plant at Thana in Chopal development block.

The initiative, supported under the Himachal Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (HPSRLM), goes beyond setting up a small rural enterprise.

For the women associated with the Thana Village Organisation, it represents an opportunity to turn collective effort, local resources and entrepreneurial skills into a sustainable source of livelihood.

The plant has been established with loan assistance of Rs 13.80 lakh provided to the Village Organisation through HPSRLM.
