Shimla, Sept. 20 -- Ending a 11-year wait, a pair of Royal Bengal Tigers arrived at the Shri Renuka Ji Zoo in Himachal Pradesh from Maharashtra on Sunday, marking a significant addition to the state's wildlife conservation and tourism infrastructure.
The tiger pair, comprising a male aged around five years and a female aged about three years, reached the zoo after covering nearly 1,900 km from Gorewada in Maharashtra.
The animals were transported under the supervision of a seven-member team led by Deputy Conservator of Forests, Shimla Wildlife Dr Shahnawaz, said the officials.
The arrival follows approval for a wildlife exchange programme obtained in August 2026.
