Palampur, Sept. 19 -- Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and former union Minister Shanta Kumar on Friday said it was a matter of great pride and happiness that Himachal Pradesh had secured the second position in the country in literacy.
He said Himachal Pradesh's literacy rate had reached 99.55 per cent, with Goa topping the country at 99.7 per cent, while Himachal Pradesh had secured the second position.
Kumar said Himachal Pradesh was honoured at a programme in Delhi for its achievement and congratulated the state government and people for the feat.
