Shimla, June 25 -- The Himachal Pradesh High Court has observed that the existing system of allotment of government accommodation lacks transparency and has become akin to a lottery, suggesting a permanent seniority-based waiting list to ensure fair and transparent allotments.
The observation was made by Justice Ajay Mohan Goel while hearing a petition filed by Amit Kumar Thakur seeking allotment of a Type-III government residence.
During the hearing, the state government informed the Court that the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) does not have a separate pool of government accommodation.
