Shimla, July 22 -- Himachal Pradesh Governor and Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) Kavinder Gupta on Wednesday called for integrating Indian knowledge systems with modern education, saying universities should focus not only on professional skills but also on character building, values and a spirit of public service.
Addressing the 57th Foundation Day celebrations of HPU here, the Governor said education must play a key role in building a strong, self-reliant and developed India by combining scientific advancement with the country's rich intellectual and cultural traditions.
