Shimla, Aug. 27 -- Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday said the state government would enact legislation to take over surplus land belonging to the state if the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) failed to return it. Replying to a discussion on a non-official resolution moved by MLA Dr Janak Raj in the Assembly, Chief Ministet Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the government was determined to protect the state's rights over land and water resources associated with hydroelectric projects.
The resolution sought effective measures to address social and environmental issues arising from hydropower projects under construction and in operation in the state.
