Shimla, Sept. 3 -- The final day of the Himachal Pradesh on Thursday, Assembly's Monsoon Session witnessed a sharp confrontation between the Congress government and the BJP over employment, with the government claiming to have generated 1.60 lakh employment opportunities in three years and the opposition staging a walkout over the government's reply.

Replying to a discussion under Rule 130 on creating employment opportunities, Parliamentary Affairs and Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan said the Congress government had provided 1,60,729 employment opportunities to educated unemployed youth in the state by December 31, 2025, including 32,223 regular government jobs.
