Shimla, May 10 -- Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday called for a detailed scientific study on recurring cloudburst incidents in Himachal Pradesh and directed that all state-level disaster research and hazard assessment activities be undertaken through the Himalayan Centre for Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience at Himachal Pradesh University.
Chairing a high-level meeting on disaster risk reduction, resilience planning and related research initiatives, the Chief Minister said cloudbursts had become a frequent phenomenon in the state, resulting in heavy loss of life and property.
