Shimla, June 8 -- Aimed at modernizing the city's utility infrastructure, enhancing urban aesthetics, and improving public convenience, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday laid the foundation stone of a Rs 246-crore Underground Utility Duct Project in Shimla.

The ambitious project seeks to create an integrated underground utility duct network across key stretches of the state capital, including Chotta Shimla-Willy Park-Chaura Maidan, Lok Bhavan-Oak Over and Sher-e-Punjab-CTO Chowk via Lower Bazar.

Once completed, the network will enable the systematic laying and maintenance of utility services, reduce the need for repeated road-cutting works, and significantly improve the city's urban landscape.
