Shimla, Aug. 30 -- The Himachal Apple Growers Association has urged the state government to immediately release pending payments to farmers for apples and other fruits procured under the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS).

State Committee member of the association Sanjay Chauhan said on Sunday that the government had started the process of releasing MIS payments for apples and other fruits in March this year. Initially, it was decided to make payments to growers who had supplied up to 30 bags of produce, followed by those who had supplied up to 100 bags. He said that despite submitting all the required documents, many farmers were still waiting for their payments.
