New Delhi, March 13 -- Delhi government has deployed advanced amphibious excavator machines to accelerate the cleaning of major city drains, including the Najafgarh and Pankha Road drains.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday launched the new state-of-the-art long-boom and short-boom amphibious excavators at Badusarai Bridge along the Najafgarh Drain, describing the move as a major step towards modernising the city's desilting operations and restoring the health of the Yamuna River.

The machines are designed to speed up desilting work, remove garbage and clear water hyacinth from drains, thereby improving their water-carrying capacity and helping reduce flooding during the monsoon season.
