At the heart of the debate is the Constitution (One Hundred and Thirty-First Amendment) Bill, 2026, which proposes 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies, alongside the Delimitation Bill, 2026, and the union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, extending similar provisions to Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir.
