Khiliehriar, Oct. 12 -- The Meghalaya Police on Monday arrested four inter-state drug traffickers, including a woman, and seized 409.89 grams of heroin worth about Rs. 1.5 crore from an ambulance.
Acting on a specific input about suspected drug traffickers travelling from Silchar in Assam with heroin, the Meghalaya Police conducted vehicle checks at Damcherra in the Kuliang area under the Umkiang Police Patrol Post in East Jaintia Hills district.
During the vehicle check in the early hours of Monday, police found 27 plastic soap-sized boxes containing heroin being transported in a Maruti Ecco ambulance bearing registration number ML-13-B-1459, Shailendra Bamaniya, the district police chief of East Jaintia Hills, said.
