Thiruvananthapuram, July 29 -- Kerala Health and Devaswom Minister K. Muraleedharan has said that steps will be taken to ensure the early detection of serious diseases such as hepatitis B and hepatitis C and to expand vaccination programmes against hepatitis across the State.

The Minister was speaking after inaugurating the state-level observance of World Hepatitis Day at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.

He said the shortage of medicines in government hospitals would be resolved at the earliest. The Health Department has also been allocated Rs 500 crore for the procurement of new medicines, he said.
