Pune, July 31 -- Torrential rainfall has wreaked havoc across Pune city and district, leading to a flood-like situation in several low-lying areas.

A massive discharge of 45,571 cusecs from the Khadakwasla Dam has significantly raised the water level of the Mutha River, causing an earthen embankment near Ekta Nagari to breach.

Floodwaters entered residential areas at high speed, submerging roads and disrupting normal life. Several streets have turned into streams, prompting the Pune Municipal Corporation to urge residents to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary travel.
