Mumbai, July 22 -- Persistent heavy rainfall across Mumbai and neighbouring districts severely disrupted long-distance train services on Western Railway on Wednesday after a bank slip between Udvada and Pardi in Gujarat forced authorities to regulate train movement on the busy Vapi-Udvada section.
The incident, which occurred between kilometre markers 184/8-10, affected down-line operations, leading to the cancellation, short termination and diversion of several long-distance trains. However, Mumbai's suburban rail network remained largely unaffected, with local services continuing to operate with only minor delays.
