Panchkula, Sept. 1 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a fresh spell of heavy rainfall across several parts of the country over the next seven days, with isolated extremely heavy rainfall likely over Jharkhand and Uttarakhand and heavy to very heavy rain expected across parts of central, eastern, northern and northeastern India.

In Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, isolated rainfall is likely on September 1 and 2, followed by fairly widespread to widespread rainfall on September 3 and 4.

The IMD has also forecast isolated heavy rainfall over the region from September 2 to 5, with thunderstorms and lightning likely during September 2-4.
