Panchkula, July 28 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts the southwest monsoon will surge across North India, unleashing widespread rain, rumbling thunderstorms, and pockets of intense downpours over Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand in the days ahead.
The IMD's latest bulletin attributes these conditions to a deep depression over the northwest Bay of Bengal, which crossed the West Bengal-North Odisha coast and is expected to move west-northwest across north Odisha, south Jharkhand, and north Chhattisgarh within the next 24 hours.
Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi are set for days of steady rain from July 28 to July 31, tapering to scattered showers from August 1.
