New Delhi, June 4 -- : Gusty winds, heavy rain and thunderstorms battered Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Thursday, bringing relief from the intense summer heat as temperatures plunged across several areas.

Ayanagar recorded the sharpest drop in temperature, with the mercury falling from 41.7degC at 1 pm to 22.7degC at 3 pm, a decline of 19degC, after the station received 27.6 mm of rainfall in two hours during the afternoon, according to data shared by officials from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
