Hyderabad, March 13 -- The rising use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and prolonged screen exposure may be contributing to a declining sleep quality among Indians, according to a national survey released by the Heartfulness Institute to coincide with World Sleep Day 2026.
The survey, conducted among more than 550 respondents across cities, including Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Pune, Chandigarh and Thane, found a strong association between higher AI interaction, longer screen exposure and poorer sleep outcomes.
According to the findings, 82.6 per cent of respondents use AI tools daily or multiple times a day, while 59.1 per cent spend more than four hours on screens each day.
