Lucknow, April 13 -- Dry weather and strong winds have intensified the heatwave conditions in Uttar Pradesh on Monday.
Maximum temperatures in several districts reached close to 40degC on Sunday.
The Meteorological Department has warned that dry weather, along with surface winds at speeds of 25 to 35 km per hour, could intensify the heatwave in the state.
According to officials, Prayagraj was the hottest city in the state, with a temperature of 39.8degC, while the mercury at BHU in Varanasi reached 39.3degC.
According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature has increased by an average of 7 to 9 degrees Celsius over the past four days, bringing temperatures closer to normal.
