Lucknow, April 17 -- After remaining cool in the first half of April, the second half of the month is now witnessing scorching heatwave conditions in almost the entire Uttar Pradesh.

Due to the intense heat since April 14, the mercury has reached close to 45 degrees Celsius in several districts. On Friday morning, most districts have been experiencing bright sunshine and hot winds.

On Thursday, Banda recorded a temperature of 44.4 deg C. Last year, on April 22, Prayagraj recorded a high of 44.3 deg C. This means that the maximum temperature reached a higher level than last year, just six days earlier.
