Mumbai , July 29 -- The Bombay High Court set aside externment orders issued by the Mumbai Police against two office-bearers of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), holding the action to be "totally illegal" and orally questioning whether the police had acted selectively because the petitioners belonged to a particular religion.
Justice Madhav J. Jamdar, while allowing petitions filed by Firoz Abdul Wahab Khan and Mohammad Rafiq Gulam Rasul Ansari, observed that several opposition parties, including Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP, had participated in the protests cited by the police, but no similar action had been initiated against their workers.
