Bengaluru, July 8 -- A legal challenge has been mounted before Karnataka High Court against the Karnataka State Election Commission's decision to conduct a separate Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in select Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) wards, with the petitioners alleging that the exercise creates the unprecedented situation of two simultaneous voter roll revisions for the same electorate.
The writ petition, filed by four Bengaluru electors, seeks to quash the State Election Commission's June 19 order directing an independent SIR for specified GBA wards and requests an interim stay on the entire exercise pending adjudication by the court.
