Mumbai, July 31 -- The Bombay High Court on Friday directed a team of four lawyers to inspect the canteen at Mantralaya, the Maharashtra state secretariat, after expressing doubts over the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) claim that the facility was 98 per cent compliant with food safety and hygiene norms.
A Division Bench led by Acting Chief Justice Ravindra V Ghuge and Justice Gautam A Ankhad observed that while it appreciated the FDA's efforts to enforce food safety regulations, the authority should not confine its action to private establishments while overlooking government-run facilities.
