Chandigarh, June 1 -- The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday sought responses from the Punjab Director General of Police (DGP), the Amritsar Rural Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and the Station House Officer (SHO) of Majitha police station on a petition filed by senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former Punjab minister Bikram Singh Majithia, even as Punjab Police intensified efforts to trace him in connection with a case registered over an alleged attempt to free an accused from police custody.
The matter is scheduled to come up for hearing on Tuesday. Majithia approached the High Court after a case was registered against him and several others following an incident at Majitha police station in Amritsar district on May 30.
