Chennai, March 14 -- With the rape and murder of a 12th Standard girl student at Vilathikulam in the southern Thoothukudi district sending shock waves across the State and triggered political outrage, the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has directed the Tamil Nadu government to file a status on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking a CBI probe into the case.
Hearing the PIL filed by one K Maheswari of Thoothukudi seeking a direction to constitute a High Court monitored Special Investigation team (SIT) for a fair and impartial probe, a Division Bench comprising Justices N.
