Panchkula, Sept. 15 -- The Haryana State Commission for Women has taken suo motu cognisance of the alleged intentional hitting of a woman biker by a vehicle in Gurugram and directed police to take prompt legal action, including registration of an FIR under relevant provisions, besides ensuring the woman's safety.
In a letter to the Commissioner of Police, Gurugram, the Commission referred to a video circulating on social media in which the driver of a vehicle bearing registration number HR 30 Y 4949 was allegedly seen intentionally hitting a woman rider with the vehicle.
The Commission said the contents of the video disclosed a "serious threat to the life, safety and dignity of the woman" and therefore warranted its suo motu intervention....
