Chandigarh, July 19 -- In a major push to reduce the mounting burden of cheque dishonour litigation, the Haryana State Legal Services Authority (HALSA) disposed of 9,590 cases under the Negotiable Instruments Act in a single day, settling disputes worth over Rs 97.29 crore through a statewide Special Lok Adalat.
The Special Lok Adalat was organized on July 18, 2026, under the leadership of Justice Deepak Sibal, Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and Executive Chairman, Haryana State Legal Services Authority, as part of HALSA's drive to provide accessible, affordable, and speedy justice through alternative dispute resolution.
