Panchkula, June 1 -- Information obtained under the Right to Information (RTI) Act has revealed that the Haryana State Information Commission spent more than Rs113.42 crore on salaries, allowances and related expenditure of Information Commissioners and staff over the last 20 years, while only Rs2.49 lakh was spent on public awareness campaigns regarding the RTI Act during the same period.
RTI activist P.P. Kapur, citing information received from the Commission, claimed that despite the RTI Act completing 20 years in Haryana since its implementation on October 12, 2005, public awareness efforts remained negligible.
