Chandigarh, Sept. 15 -- With just 15 days left to meet the September 30 deadline, Haryana is expediting the installation of 775 Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras at petrol pumps across four NCR districts, with fuel supply to Haryana-registered End-of-Life Vehicles (ELVs) set to be stopped from October 1, Transport Minister Anil Vij said on Tuesday.
The Rs 41.74-crore first phase, approved by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, will cover Gurugram, Sonipat, Jhajjar and Faridabad. The initiative is being implemented in compliance with directions of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to strengthen enforcement against End-of-Life Vehicles and improve air quality in the NCR.
