Panchkula, Sept. 21 -- Haryana is moving to expand shelter space for stray cattle, with four cow sanctuaries under development, 22 defunct gaushalas set to be revived and 14 new shelters planned, as the state seeks to move homeless cattle from roads to safer facilities.
Mohan Lal Kaushik, Chairman of the Bureau of Public Enterprises, said after a review meeting in Chandigarh on Monday that the government was working with the Gau Sewa Aayog, gram panchayats and urban local bodies to house stray cattle in gaushalas and the proposed sanctuaries.
