Panchkula, Oct. 9 -- A journalists' association in Haryana has urged Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to implement two previously announced welfare measures - raising medical assistance for journalists from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh and providing cashless treatment - saying formal government orders are needed to make the benefits available.

Chandrashekhar Dharani, president of the Media Well Being Association (MWB), said the government should either issue a notification to increase medical assistance provided to journalists through the Haryana Information, Public Relations and Languages Department, or secure Cabinet approval at its next meeting.
