Chandigarh, Feb. 27 -- The sixth day of the Haryana Assembly budget session witnessed stormy scenes on Friday as the Opposition and the ruling government locked horns over allegations of a paddy scam.
During the zero hour, Congress MLA Ashok Arora moved a calling attention motion, describing the alleged irregularities as a deep-rooted scandal that could not have thrived without high-level political patronage.
Adding weight to the allegations, Congress legislator Aditya Surjewala claimed that the root of the scam lay in the illegal issuance of gate passes for paddy arriving from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar through unauthorised border crossings.
