Panchkula, Aug. 28 -- Haryana has 28,303 factories registered under the Factories Act, 1948, according to the state's online departmental portal, but an analysis of five-year data placed before the Vidhan Sabha reveals a sharply uneven industrial spread, with Gurugram, Sonipat and Faridabad accounting for nearly half of the factory numbers reflected in the government table.
The figures, furnished by Labour Minister Anil Vij in a written reply to an unstarred question raised by Mullana MLA Pooja, show that the statewide annual factory figure stood at 1,635 in 2022 before falling to 1,277 in 2023, a decline of 21.90 per cent.
