Chandigarh, July 14 -- In one of Haryana's biggest investments in public utilities, the state government has approved 712 new drinking water, sewerage and stormwater drainage projects worth Rs 2,534.39 crore, promising to strengthen basic civic infrastructure across both urban and rural areas amid growing pressure from rapid urbanisation, recurring water shortages and monsoon-related flooding.
Announcing the decision, Public Health Engineering and Public Works Minister Ranbir Gangwa said the projects, approved for 2026-27 by the Haryana Water Supply and Sewerage Board (WSSB), are aimed at ensuring safe drinking water, modern sewerage systems and better rainwater drainage for citizens across the state.
