Panchkula, June 27 -- The State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB) of Haryana arrested a Sub-Inspector of the Special Task Force (STF), posted at Ambala, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000, in a major operation against corruption within the police ranks.
The accused, identified as Sub-Inspector Rohit Rohilla of the STF, Ambala, had allegedly demanded Rs 50,000 from a complainant in exchange for not registering an FIR against him on a complaint received by the STF.
The complainant approached the SV & ACB with a grievance that the accused Sub-Inspector was extorting money to bury a complaint filed against him, making the registration of an FIR conditional on payment of the bribe amount.
