Panchkula, June 22 -- In a major road safety initiative aimed at curbing accidents on National Highway-44, Haryana Police has ordered the permanent closure of illegal cuts on the highway and warned of criminal action against anyone found reopening them.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Sonipat Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Narendra Kadian in coordination with officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), following directions from Police Commissioner Mamta Singh.
