Panchkula, June 21 -- Haryana Police arrested a man within 24 hours of receiving a complaint for allegedly raping his 13-year-old niece, leading to her pregnancy, a Haryana Police spokesman said today, calling it a case of swift action under the POCSO Act.
According to police, the incident came to light after the victim, who had visited her maternal grandparents' home in Panchkula with her mother around two to three months ago, was allegedly sexually assaulted by her maternal uncle during that period. The minor did not disclose the assault to anyone at the time, out of fear and social stigma.
