Gurugram, Oct. 4 -- Gurugram Traffic Police issued more than 9,000 challans and imposed fines totalling approximately Rs 1.51 crore during a month-long enforcement drive in September targeting overspeeding and drunk driving on the city's major arteries, police said on Sunday.

The crackdown, conducted from September 1 to September 30, focused on the Mumbai Expressway, Golf Course Road and other key routes where high speeds have contributed to accidents. During the overspeeding drive alone, police issued 7,570 challans and collected around Rs 1,51,40,000 in penalties under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
